I’m ready!
I’ve prepared a couple of Rocket Fuel Latte recipes since the original recipe in 2015. But something I’ve never done is provide a complete guide on how to make the Rocket Fuel Latte caffeine-free. About time, right?
Making a daily Rocket Fuel Latte (RFL) helps me fuel my awesome, keeping my nutrition game strong, and staying focused on what makes my body feel good. If you’re anything like me, playing around with ingredients to find the ones that suit me best, knowing that these ingredients change often as my body adjusts what it needs, and staying away from caffeine are just some of the ways I stay committed to health.
The thing I love most about the RFL is how quickly it can be prepared. At any given moment, you are less than 5 minutes away from an RFL. And, I like that – knowing I have a keto powerhouse in my back pocket at any given time.
There are so, so many components that make up a Rocket Fuel Latte, but I’d like to hone in on one of the recipes in today’s video that includes Bob’s Red Mill Chia Seeds. In the classic recipe, the seed used is hemp, but I’ve heard from a lot of you that hemp doesn’t work for you because of allergies, the industry you’re in, or that you don’t enjoy how they react in your blender (see below for more details).
If you’re one of these people, swap out the hemp for chia and let me know how it goes for you! I’ve always found chia to aid in my digestive health, and with a tablespoon in every RFL, my tummy always welcomes the drink with a loving embrace.
Did you know MCT oil also comes in powdered form? Ya! In its powdered state, it’s much easier to use, travel with, and incorporate into your favorite recipes. Plus, if you’ve experienced digestive issues with MCT oil before, MCT oil powder is a lot gentler on the gut. Check out my favorite brand of MCT oil powder here.
You’ll notice that the Rocket Fuel Latte has a couple of must-haves, regardless of the recipe you choose to make:
- Liquid: to keep things caffeine-free, I like to use things like herbal tea, decaf coffee, or hot water.
- Carbohydrate: the more carbohydrate added, the smoother the drink. I go for omega-rich seeds such as chia seed and hemp seed because they’ve got limited net carbs. If your blender isn’t strong enough, using these seeds will result in “sludge” at the bottom of your cup. If this happens to you, use nut or seed butters in its place. Lastly, things like full-fat coconut milk will add the carbs for smoothness, but won’t incorporate the ingredients as well as say, Bob’s Red Mill Chia Seeds.
- Protein: I enjoy using collagen, but any protein powder will do the trick. The more fibrous the protein powder, the more gritty the end result may be.
